Almost A Year Later

The thing I don't like about blogs are the order one writes in them. By rights this should be ABOVE the pictures of my doll work. In order for this or any blog one needs to start at the bottom and read UP. But that's the way it it...>S<

I've had a request by my son to record all the crafts I've done over the years....so why not in a blog.....so here I go.

I thought the best way for me to do this is to do each craft separately, at least for a start. So I'm beginning with my 'doll making' history.

Dolls have always been in my life off and on from as far back as I remember. I played with them as a child....then I didn't really connect with them again until my daughters came along. In the late 1950s I built a doll house for them so I needed dolls to put in there. My first dolls really weren't to scale as I didn't know about such things at that time. They were just little kids. So above I start by showing some of my first dolls. These are wire armature dolls covered with hand sewn felt bodies. They are about 5" tall. Their faces are embroidered.. I knitted the sox and carved the little Dutch shoes. I also designed and hand sewed their clothing.
